Two teams of SRP lineworkers and apprentices are heading to Kansas City this week to show off their skills and training as they compete against other utility companies from around the world at the International Lineman’s Rodeo.

SRP crews have been training since February. They have been practicing on weekends to get additional hands-on experience to prepare them for the competition and strengthen the skills they use daily to serve SRP customers.

Apprenticeship supervisors have overseen the training sessions, offering guidance and safety-focused feedback. SRP apprentices and lineworkers will compete in several events from October 15–18, including:

Apprentice Events:

  • "Hurt man" Rescue
  • Pole Climb
  • Mystery Events
  • Written Test
