Celebrating Women in the Trade for International Women's Day

March 13, 2023
For International Women's Day, utilities honored their female employees, including their women in the line trade.

On International Women's Day on March 8, 2023, utilities honored their female lineworkers with celebratory posts on social media. One particular video, however, caught my eye. Here is a Hydro One post that I wanted to share with our Lineman Life enewsletter subscribers and T&D World readers.

"Today's International Women's Day and we spent the day with our lines apprentice Mackenzie Gillan! Mackenzie is a strong team player with an unshakeable dedication to her craft. At the Kansas Line's Rodeo, she took home 3 awards and became the first woman apprentice to podium at the competition. We love to see the women of Hydro One pursue meaningful careers while fostering diversity in the trades. We're so proud to have her on our team!"
