During the holiday season, linemen not only have the opportunity to keep customers' homes warm and bright, but they also often help with holiday lighting ceremonies. For example, officials and linemen from Ameren Illinois joined East St. Louis Mayor Robert Eastern III for the Dec. 2 holiday lighting ceremony.
Mayor Eastern took a ride in an Ameren Illinois double bucket truck to light the star atop the City's 32-ft Christmas tree with the assistance of Ameren Illinois Journeyman Lineman Josh Daniels. The mayor told the crowd he was a tad bit nervous taking a bucket truck ride, but said he would confidently plug in the Christmas star for the City of Champions.
The tree is decorated with 80 strands of LED holiday lights donated by Ameren Illinois' Energy Efficiency team.
