New High-Voltage Switching Simulator Training Designed for Substation Operators

April 2, 2021
The simulator allows learners to navigate within a 3D-simulated substation environment.

High-voltage switching can be dangerous for operators because switching is not a common occurrence, making it difficult for employees to gain significant experience on the job, according to Global Training Solutions, Inc.

The new High Voltage Switching Simulator allows learners to navigate within a 3D-simulated substation environment to follow dangerous procedures needed to safely conduct high voltage switching procedures. The program is built as a SCORM object allowing any SCORM-compatible LMS to assign and track this training for any workforce.

Participants will:

  • Practice three-way communication
  • Learn how to read a switching order
  • Inspect and determine the status of breakers and switches
  • Use the control panel to open switches
  • Properly decouple, lock, and tag equipment
  • Assign, take and track using any corporate LMS
