Public Service Company of Oklahoma Responds to Outages from Weather

Several tornadoes were reported in southwest and central Oklahoma. Straight-line wind gusts of 60 to 80 mph were reported in southwestern Oklahoma.

Public Service Company of Oklahoma is continuing to respond to weather-related outages across its service area. A line of severe thunderstorms rolled through the state Sunday night and early Monday. Several tornadoes were reported in southwest and central Oklahoma. Straight-line wind gusts of 60 to 80 mph were reported in southwestern Oklahoma.

  • Damage assessments include 92 downed poles in the PSO distribution system, mostly in southwest Oklahoma. Damage was also reported for transmission towers, wires, and other equipment.
  • Around 10 p.m. Sunday, 11,229 customers were without power throughout the PSO service area. That marked the high point for outages.
  • As of 11 a.m., the vast majority of customers were restored with the number of outages reduced to less than 1,000 customers. The remaining outages are concentrated in southwestern Oklahoma, where 900 customers were without power.
  • PSO crews and business partners are working to restore power safety and quickly. Estimated restoration times Monday and Tuesday for remaining outages in southwest Oklahoma have been set and are available on the outage map at PSOklahoma.com.

Storm Preparation Efforts

  • PSO has more than 1,200 lineworkers, forestry personnel and support staff ready to respond throughout its service area, which includes more than 100 off-system personnel who were called in from other parts of Oklahoma and Texas. PSO has concentrated available personnel on southwestern Okahoma.
  • PSO continually prepares for all types of weather throughout the year and regularly conducts storm drills to ensure the PSO team is ready to respond immediately.
