The PLH Group response teams had multiple staging locations, including Kenner, Louisiana; Gonzales, Louisiana; and even a cruise ship.

PLH Group business units are not just proficient in power line and pipeline energy construction work. They are also emergency response, recovery, and restoration experts. And in the aftermath of major storms, most recently Hurricane Ida, this work is crucial to the survival of our nation’s communities. PLH Group business units responded immediately to storm recovery and restoration efforts in areas impacted most by Hurricane Ida.

Hurricane Ida made landfall near Port Fourchon, Louisiana, on Aug. 29, as a Category 4 hurricane — just shy of being categorized as a Category 5. Its maximum sustained winds of 150 mph caused tornadoes in six states and devastated areas in its path. State after state experienced flooding from its torrential rains, and power loss affected residents throughout its route.

PLH Group business units Power Line ServicesAir2TESSCO Energy Services, and Edison Power Constructors immediately responded by mobilizing over 200 employees to restore power to impacted areas. The PLH Group response teams had multiple staging locations, including Kenner, Louisiana; Gonzales, Louisiana; and even a cruise ship.

“As leaders in specialized electric power work, we are committed to our nation’s communities in times when we are needed most, such as the aftermath of Hurricane Ida,” said Elsie Bentley, vice president, Safety, Health, and Environment. “From populated areas to marshy regions, our crews are tirelessly committed to safely restoring power throughout the impacted areas. We will not leave this region until our job is done.”

PLH Group’s business units specializing in storm response have multi-year storm contracts with several major utilities. In the midst of the 2021 hurricane season, PLH Group business units remain prepared to respond to additional storm recovery efforts as needed. They have the crews, equipment, and fleet necessary to quickly mobilize to impacted areas, as well as the specialized training needed for safe electric power recovery and restoration.
