Learn how FirstEnergy Corp. adapts learnings from its work with the State Game Lands 33 Research Project to improve its rights-of-way management program

FirstEnergy Corp. and predecessor utilities have been involved with the State Game Lands 33 (SGL 33) Research Project since its inception in the early 1950s. With the support of other research partners like Corteva Agriscience, this research provides tools and best practices to vegetation management teams working to maintain the reliability of electrical transmission systems.

In recent years, SGL 33 research has focused on the impact of using Integrated Vegetation Management (IVM) strategies to not only maintain the reliability of utility service but also promote safe and reliable plant communities that are beneficial to the environment. To learn more about SGL 33 research and how IVM-based programs can lower maintenance costs for utility vegetation management programs and support the development of native plant communities that create biodiverse habitat for wildlife, including birds, insects and various pollinator species, visit HabitatWithHerbicides.com.
