New Herbicide Enhances Results

April 8, 2021
TerraVue® herbicide is exceeding industry standards and offers the industry’s most favorable environmental profile.

Vegetation managers across the country have used Milestone herbicide from Corteva Agriscience to control invasive weeds throughout various application sites for years. From eliminating weeds and brush on wildlife openings to restoring native habitats and promoting the growth of desirable grasses and forbs, Milestone has provided consistent results on various use sites, including utility rights-of-way, railroads, roadsides and natural areas. But as plant species grow resistant to different herbicide products, new chemistries must be used to maintain control of incompatible vegetation. Practitioners who have used Milestone in the past now can improve broad-spectrum control with a new and improved product from Corteva: TerraVue.

TerraVue outperforms Milestone on multiple levels. Used for residual weed and additive brush control, TerraVue provides improved results on more than 140 broadleaf weeds and brush species – that’s approximately 20% more than Milestone. But enhancing broad-spectrum control isn’t the only improvement TerraVue provides over Milestone. Here are a few additional considerations:

TerraVue is powered by green chemistry

Aminopyralid is the lone active ingredient that powers Milestone. Comparatively, TerraVue is powered by aminopyralid as well as a second active ingredient, Rinksor® active. Rinskor won the American Chemical Society’s Green Chemistry Challenge award and unlocks sites at the auxin receptor that Milestone is incapable of reaching alone. This allows TerraVue to offer the industry’s most favorable environmental profile. Whereas Milestone provides 78% control of some of the most prevalent weed species, TerraVue provides 99% control of the same species, including the following:

  • Spotted knapweed
  • Buckhorn plantain
  • Wild carrot
  • Canada thistle
  • Annual marshelder
  • Poison hemlock

TerraVue enhances total vegetation control

TerraVue offers increased rate flexibility for total vegetation control (TVC). Being able to apply 5.7 oz/acre of TerraVue allows applicators to double the rate of treatments featuring Milestone. This capability significantly enhances results for TVC and spot-spraying applications.

TerraVue is an effective tank-mix partner

Vegetation managers can increase the woody brush spectrum by combining TerraVue with a variety of other tank-mix partners, including Vastlan®, Garlon® 4 Ultra or Rodeo® herbicide. TerraVue is also available through the Continuum® Prescription Control & Container Management System, which provides straight product or contract mixes for the unique needs of the land you manage.

TerraVue is essentially nonvolatile

As an essentially nonvolatile product, TerraVue can be used in nearly any situation in which grass-safe brush and broadleaf weed control is needed.

Multiple products can be used to target similar forms of incompatible vegetation, but not all products provide the same results. While less-effective herbicide products may allow vegetation managers to treat at a lower cost per acre, their use can result in shorter treatment cycles. This often leads to increased maintenance requirements – and costs – from one year to the next. TerraVue herbicide is backed by field-tested performance, as well as the technical and claims support of Corteva, allowing today’s practitioners to significantly improve the efficiency of their weed and brush control programs.

Whether you’ve used selective herbicides for years or are just now integrating them into your vegetation management strategy, there’s no better time than now to use a product that works harder than most other herbicides on the market.
