I begin this article knowing full well it may bring to the surface some interesting, albeit potentially controversial issues. My hope is that these issues are discussed extensively among the many members of the UVM industry so that we may shape our industry together, for the better.
At the time of this writing, my company is embarking upon a study to explore the effectiveness of regulating UVM activities. Our intent is to take a critical look at the following four questions:
1. What types of UVM regulations currently exist?
2. Do they work?
3. What are the likely trends of UVM regulations in the future?
4. What are the current UVM industry opinions regarding regulations?
