Seattle City Light will deploy Itron’s Enterprise Edition (IEE) Meter Data Management system to improve billing processes for its largest C&I customers.

Deployment of IEE, will allow Seattle City Light (SCL) to implement automated data quality routines, manage the data in a single versioned repository, and enable use of the data by multiple utility systems. In addition, Itron MV-PBS will be integrated with IEE and SCL’s existing customer information system to help add rate flexibility, reduce errors and operational costs, and improve customer service.

“The ability to process and manipulate interval data is critical to successfully handling complex billing functions,” said Leighton Stewart, Seattle City Light Program Manager. “This helps enhance our Key Account Customer validation and billing process. We also wanted to position the utility for a future where we see greatly increased use of automated metering technology. Itron has deep knowledge of the complexities of interval data from hundreds of successful MV-90 installations over the years. We found Itron's software to be a good fit for Seattle City Light at this time.”

With IEE, MV-PBS and Itron’s Customer Care applications, SCL can implement new products to meet changing regulatory and market needs, said Eric Miller, vice president for Itron software solutions.

“This will improve the quality of interval data for C&I customers and allow for flexibility for future C&I product offerings,” said Miller. “Using one secure, centralized data management environment significantly reduces the likelihood of errors in business processes that use meter data. Because IEE easily interfaces to existing billing systems and analysis tools, you can deploy a cost-effective data management system without affecting existing billing processes.”
