Open Systems International, Inc. has announced the latest feature release of its OSIRIS Remote Telemetry Unit (RTU).

Open Systems International, Inc. (OSI) has announced the latest feature release of its OSIRIS Remote Telemetry Unit (RTU). OSIRIS (OSIRemote Information System), OSI’s Linux-based secure RTU, now offers enhanced and expanded functionality and allows OSI to provide a full-scale RTU solution.

The flexibility, expandability and low per-unit cost of OSIRIS are complemented by significant new enhancements to the product. With its latest release, OSIRIS is delivering several new features including IRIG-B time synchronization, full integration of the OSIRIS XM (OSI Remote Information System Expansion Module), Integrated Linux-Based Firewall, IED Integration/Data Concentration, and additional protocols including DNP Master, Modbus Slave and IEC 60870-5-104 Slave. Additional OSIRIS protocol and feature options include Modbus Master, TASE.2 (ICCP), IEC 61131 (PLC), SEL Protocol, DNP over UDP, IEC 61850, VPN encryption and additional protocols as requested.

The addition of OSI’s DNP3 Master Protocol makes OSIRIS a suitable alternative to high-cost data concentrators and security appliances, allowing it to be configured as a single large-point-count RTU that can be distributed throughout a facility and integrated with other intelligent devices. It also allows OSI to use commercially available modules to add serial and Ethernet ports, analog outputs, direct AC inputs and other hardware features.
