TranServ International, Inc. has been chosen by MidAmerican Energy to become the independent transmission services coordinator for components of its Open Access Transmission Tariff (OATT). While not operating the switches or providing reliability coordination services, TranServ International will oversee the provision of certain transmission services, including the calculation and posting of transmission capacity on the Open Access Same Time Information System (OASIS), evaluating and approving requests for transmission services, performing transmission system impact and generation interconnection studies, approving or denying E-Tags, coordination of transmission planning with regional planning processes, and managing the stakeholder process.

TranServ International says that its personnel have decades of experience in managing OATT business processes and the technologies that are required to provide non-discriminatory transmission services and will expand its staff to meet the needs of MidAmerican. TranServ International will begin immediately to work with MidAmerican stakeholders and MidAmerican transmission to ensure that TranServ International services are ready for expected operation on Sept. 1, 2006.
