eMeter Corp. has been selected to provide its EnergyIP software for use in managing data and operations of Alliant Energy's Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) project. Subject to regulatory approvals, Alliant Energy plans to deploy AMI meters to 1.1 million electric customers and 400,000 natural gas customers over the next four years.

EnergyIP will be integrated with multiple legacy systems across both the Interstate Power and Light (IPL) and Wisconsin Power and Light (WPL) operating companies, including two separate CIS systems. This multi-utility integration will involve multiple data collection sources serving residential, commercial and industrial electric and natural gas customers. In addition to the traditional meter-to-cash functionality including Validation, Editing, and Estimation (VEE), EnergyIP will be implemented to support and automate the key business processes associated with AMI deployment and activation, service order and exception management, asset management, outage management and customer data presentment.
eMeter developed EnergyIP specifically to support the installation, operation, and management of AMI systems and the data they generate. eMeter's software is a multi-vendor AMI integration platform built on an open Service Oriented Architecture incorporating real-time messaging technology. Furthermore, EnergyIP enables support for a wide range of growing Intelligent Grid functions, ranging from interval metering to Home Area Networks (HANs). Over time, EnergyIP will be readily integrated with Alliant Energy's emerging technology developments and initiatives.
