Strategic Staffing Solutions (S3), a Detroit-based information technology consulting firm, and DTE Energy have announced a three-year contract renewal for S3 to continue working as the energy company's master vendor for IT contract work.
"S3's work for the past five years has afforded DTE Energy the ability to fulfill our goal of streamlining our vendor operations," said Lynne Ellyn, DTE Energy senior vice president and chief information officer.
As master IT vendor, S3 manages DTE Energy's IT vendor network in a number of operational functions, including Detroit Edison and MichCon, DTE Energy's principal operating subsidiaries. The contract continues a relationship that began in 2001 when S3 originally was chosen to be DTE Energy's master vendor.
"Over the past five years, S3 has been able to fully understand the operations of DTE Energy and refine our offerings to meet the needs of the company," said Cynthia J. Pasky, S3 president and CEO. "As a woman-owned business, S3 also appreciates and shares DTE Energy's commitment to work with a diverse group of suppliers and vendors. As we deliver on our contractual obligation to increase quality and reduce costs for DTE Energy, we also intend to provide opportunities and support to women- and minority-owned IT contract personnel firms."
The new contract is a continuation of DTE Energy's efforts to simplify its contract personnel function, in which all contractor requests are managed by S3 and fulfilled from IT contract firms working through S3. Additionally, S3 will update and increase insurance requirements and background checks for contractors and develop a matrix that clearly illustrates job requirements.
