Benton PUD, a municipal corporation of the state of Washington headquartered in Kennewick, has completed implementation of Telvent's ArcFM, ArcFM Viewer for Engine with Redliner, Designer with a custom Workflow Manager and ArcGIS Server. The corporation is currently upgrading to ArcFM 9.3 Rev2 and ArcGIS 9.3.1. .
Concurrently, Benton PUD has also completed implementation of Telvent’s Fiber Manager, an integrated solution for mapping fiber optic related assets, establishing fiber level connectivity, and building traceable circuits in a network. Expanding their use of Telvent’s Designer application to include fiber optic planning, Benton PUD integrated network designs into its current processes, which include engineering, cost estimating, as-built updates and work management. Benton PUD has been using Fiber Manager with Designer and the customized Workflow Manager, actively creating cost estimates and designs, since January 2009.
“Since deploying the fully integrated GIS and design platform, the District has experienced a reduction in work order cycle times, increased staff productivity, eliminated process redundancies, and improved cost estimate accuracy,” said Chris Folta, Benton PUD Manager of GIS. “With the ArcFM Solution, we are able to manage all of our spatial and related assets in a single enterprise, universally accessible database. We no longer have to maintain multiple systems and databases to store and access our data. We have certainly achieved our goal of putting data in the hands of the users, in the office and in the field.”
Additionally, Benton PUD will begin implementing Telvent’s Responder outage management system (OMS) in September 2009. It is also in the midst of an AMI deployment, with plans to integrate with Responder at the end of this year.
