Real estate and tree clearing activities are underway along the 58-mile corridor of the ATC Holmes-Old Mead Road 138-kV transmission line project in Menominee and Delta counties in Michigan. The project is part of the American Transmission Co. Bay Lake Project providing a connection between the Holmes Substation in Menominee County and the Old Mead Road Substation in Escanaba, Mich. Easement acquisition is more than 60% complete, thanks in large part to securing an easement from the state of Michigan along 20 miles of an abandoned railroad corridor.

After the transmission project is complete, ATC will build a recreational trail in that portion of the right-of-way. Construction of the $120 million project will begin in January 2015, and the projected in-service date is summer 2016.
