CTC Global Introduces Higher-Strength ACCC Plus Conductor

The ACCC Plus Conductor features a higher-strength core, enabling longer spans and better clearance management, providing utilities with increased design flexibility and optimized line performance for complex transmission requirements.

CTC Global has introduced the ACCC Plus Conductor, a new addition to its ACCC Conductor family designed for transmission applications requiring greater mechanical performance and design flexibility.

Utilities are facing transmission planning challenges related to load growth, generation shifts, interconnection queues, permitting constraints and evolving reliability requirements. These factors are increasing pressure on existing and new transmission infrastructure while requiring utilities to manage capacity, project costs, clearance constraints, structure requirements and long-term performance.

The ACCC Plus Conductor is built on ACCC Conductor technology and features a higher-strength, higher-modulus core than the standard ACCC Conductor. According to CTC Global, the design supports longer span lengths, improved clearance management, more efficient structure spacing and optimized conductor and line designs.

The new conductor is positioned between the standard ACCC Conductor and ACCC ULS Conductor. CTC Global said it is intended for projects where utilities may benefit from longer span lengths, improved clearance management, greater mechanical margins and optimized new line designs.

“The ACCC Plus Conductor expands the ACCC Conductor family with a new performance option for utilities facing increasingly complex transmission and economic design requirements,” said J.D. Sitton, chief executive officer of CTC Global. “It gives engineers greater flexibility to optimize line design around strength, sag, span length, efficiency and project economics.”

CTC Global said the ACCC Plus Conductor is intended to provide an additional option for demanding transmission line requirements while maintaining the reliability and operational advantages of ACCC Conductor technology.
