State Grid Corporation of China Brings Batang-Lancang River 500 kV Transmission Line Online

April 12, 2023
The transmission line runs for 294.2 kilometers (182.8 miles) and comprises 537 towers.

State Grid Corporation of China brought the Batang-Lancang River 500 kV transmission line online earlier this month. The transmission line runs from Sichuan Province to the Tibet Autonomous Region. The project will facilitate consumption of water and development in the vicinity of the Jinsha River.

The transmission line runs for 294.2 kilometers (182.8 miles) and comprises 537 towers. The power channel has grown threefold, and the mutual aid capacity has grown twofold.

State Grid Corporation of China is undertaking other projects such as the optimization of the Panxi Power Grid in Sichuan, the ±800 kV Jinshang-Hubei UHV DC project and Sichuan-Chongqing 1000 kV UHV AC project.

"The altitude along the project is 3200-4900 meters, the environment is low temperature, and has a lack of oxygen. We overcame the difficulties in material transportation and completed the construction task as scheduled," said Xu Zhiguo, the construction project manager of the project.
