Peru’s Private Investment Promotion Agency (PROINVERSIÓN) has awarded 10 electricity transmission projects worth over $1.1 billion in 2023, in a move that will improve life for 10 million citizens across 10 departments in the country.
The list of the projects is as follows:
- ITC 220 kV link Cáclic – Jaén and 220 kV link Ica – Poroma ($132 million)
- 550 Kv Piura Nueva – Border ($217 million)
- 500 kV Celendín – Piura link and 500 kV Huánuco – Tocache – Celendín – Trujillo link ($611 million)
- Piura East Substation; ITC Link 220 kV Piura Nueva – Colán; 220 kV link Belaunde Terry – North Tarapoto; ITC SE Lambayeque Norte 220 kV with sectioning
- 500 kV San José - Yarabamba link ($163.5 million)
The Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM), as part of the Transmission Plan 2023 – 2032, will award 18 electricity transmission projects worth over $900 million in 2024. Over the past six years, each project has received the attention of an average of five bidders who submitted economic and technical offers.
The terms of the concession for these projects in Peru is 30 years and investors are expected to assume the risk of execution. The concessionaires can ink agreements, offering legal stability, with the Peruvian government. Finally, PROINVERSIÓN offers predictability and technical quality in its process of inviting investment, and the Transmission Plan is updated every two years while keeping a 10-year horizon in mind.
