TVA Seeks Comment on Proposed Transmission Project

Dec. 10, 2015
The Tennessee Valley Authority is asking the public for input on plans to purchase right-of-way easement and construct and operate a transmission line.

The Tennessee Valley Authority is asking the public for input on plans to purchase right-of-way easement and construct and operate a transmission line that would provide power to the new Memphis Regional Megasite, located in Haywood County, Tennessee.

TVA is proposing to site and plan for routes capable of supporting both a 6.5-mile-long  161-kV transmission line and a 3.4-mile-long 500-kilovolt transmission line to supply power to the state-owned Memphis Regional Megasite. TVA would construct either a 161-kilovolt or a 500-kilovolt transmission line after the State of Tennessee has identified occupants for the Megasite and electrical needs are known. TVA is seeking public comments on an environmental review of the project.

TVA invites comment on the draft environmental assessment, available at https://www.tva.com/Environment/Environmental-Stewardship/Environmental-Reviews/Memphis-Regional-Megasite-Power-Supply. TVA will accept written comments electronically and by conventional mail through December 28, 2015.

Written comments should be sent to Anita E. Masters, NEPA Project Manager, Tennessee Valley Authority, 1101 Market St., Mail Stop BR 4A, Chattanooga, TN, 37402. Comments also may be submitted on the project website at https://www.tva.com/Environment/Environmental-Stewardship/Environmental-Reviews/Memphis-Regional-Megasite-Power-Supply or by email at [email protected].
