“Setting our 3,000th structure represents a significant milestone for this important project,” said Doug Herling, vice president of Special Projects for CMP and executive sponsor of the MPRP. “Every day, thousands of men and women complete hundreds of tasks necessary to build a stronger, smarter grid for Maine. We have now passed the halfway mark toward completion of one of the biggest construction projects in Maine’s history.”
The structure set earlier this month in Frankfort, about 15 mi south of Bangor, is a part of the new Section 254, a bundled H-frame 115-kV transmission line which interconnects a new CMP substation under construction in Windsor with the Orrington Substation in Orrington. The transmission line traverses 54 mi through 14 communities in an existing transmission corridor.
