Safegrid to Showcase Predictive Fault Intelligence Solution for Modern Distribution Networks
Safegrid, a G&W Electric Company, will demonstrate its Intelligent Grid System, a grid monitoring solution designed to help electric utilities detect, predict, and locate developing faults before they result in sustained outages.
The system continuously monitors distribution and transmission networks using intelligent field sensors with data-driven analytics. By combining high-speed transient monitoring with continuous analysis of electrical phenomena such as partial discharge, leakage current, and intermittent arcing, the platform provides utilities with early warning of deteriorating assets and emerging fault conditions.
Unlike traditional monitoring systems that primarily report faults after they occur, Safegrid's predictive analytics identify abnormal patterns that indicate developing equipment issues, allowing utilities to prioritize maintenance before failures impact customers. When a fault does occur, GPS time-synchronized measurements enable accurate fault location, helping crews reduce patrol time and restore service more quickly.
Utilities are using the technology to identify issues including failing cable terminations, damaged insulators, vegetation-related faults, lightning arrester deterioration, and intermittent overhead line faults that can be difficult to locate using conventional methods.
At Booth 307, visitors can see how predictive fault intelligence supports a shift from reactive fault response to proactive grid management. Live demonstrations will highlight how utilities can improve reliability, reduce outage duration, minimize unnecessary field inspections, and make maintenance decisions based on actionable asset condition data.
