On Oct. 18, the remaining Duke Power employees and contractors assisting Entergy Corp. with Hurricane Katrina restoration efforts were released and returned from Louisiana. Duke Power's hurricane relief efforts actually began on Aug. 26 when teams were dispatched to Miami, Florida, to restore power after Katrina's first landfall.

Duke Energy and The Duke Energy Foundation has donated more than $315,000 to the American Red Cross for disaster relief efforts associated with the flooding and storm damage caused by Hurricane Katrina along the Gulf Coast.

The Foundation contributed $100,000 to the American Red Cross immediately. In addition, the Foundation had set aside another $150,000 to match donations made by Duke Energy employees and retirees through the end of September.
