SWEPCO to Replace Poles and Upgrade Distribution Lines in Shreveport, Los Angeles

April 18, 2023
Crews at SWEPCO along with contractors will swap close to 89 poles and renovate distribution lines by expanding the size of wires to improve reliability.

Southwestern Electric Power (SWEPCO), a subsidiary American Electric Power, is undertaking a project to boost the reliability of the distribution network in Shreveport, Los Angeles. The project concerns close to two miles of distribution infrastructure between South Shreveport substation and along Linwood Avenue to the interconnection with Flournoy Lucas Road.

Crews at SWEPCO along with contractors will swap close to 89 poles and renovate distribution lines by expanding the size of wires to improve reliability. The project will ensure an increase in capacity and boost dependability of electric supply to homes located to the south of the Shreveport substation.

Construction is in progress and will be underway for many more months subject to favorable weather. SWEPCO crews will work so as to not disturb schools. Traffic will be impacted along Linwood Avenue and customers will be notified about pre-planned outages.
