As the Houston area works to recover from the effects of Hurricane Ike, Reliant Energy has teamed up with the Houston Department of Health and Human Services (HDHHS) and the YMCA to provide support for those who are living without electricity.
At three HDHHS City of Houston Multi-Service Centers and 14 area YMCA locations, Reliant Energy is supplying drinks, snacks and power strips for cell phone battery charging. Activities are also available for children and adults.
In addition, the facilities will be staffed with Reliant Energy volunteers who can provide information on customer assistance programs, including payment plans, extensions, average billing, CARE payments and the voluntary moratorium on disconnection for low-income seniors, critical care and other low-income residential customers.
“Providing relief to those who are living without electricity is one way we can help during this difficult time,” said Mark Jacobs, president and chief executive officer, Reliant Energy.
