Dr. Frank Drumm, Sr. Director Product Management, TE Connectivity, Germany, will be presenting "Smart Cable Accessories - Next Generation of Cable Accessories, with additional functionalities to correspond with the needs of future networks" during the poster session at the 2020 IEEE PES T&D.
As power networks move toward decentralized and renewable resources, grid monitoring becomes more challenging. The role of data in power networks is becoming crucial, not only for optimized grid operation but also to ensure reliability of the system through preventive and predictive maintenance of grid components. This requires smarter grid component solutions, which can provide the required data. Cable accessories are among these smart solutions/components, which can provide system monitoring. Cable accessories today, have only one functionality - namely connectivity.
This presentation explores where and how future grid networks could benefit from cable accessories with additional measuring and sensing features as a secondary functionality – Enter the “smart” generation of cable accessories
