Frank from the Hinterland Electric distribution team was dispatched to investigate a potential harmonics problem. Bruce was back at the office and promised to radio Frank with some information key to solving the problem. Frank was convinced the problem was coming from a number of variable speed drives at a local factory. Bruce was betting the source of the problem was the uninterrupted power supply system at a data center on the same circuit. Finally, the radio message came through to Frank with the awaited intel and just as the key data was being relayed, the radio transmission stopped. Frank checked his radio later and everything was fine. Bruce did the same and verified there was no problem at the base station. Why did the radio transmission stop for a brief period?
