Q: The EPA has determined that the average household has five to ten ac adapters powering low voltage electronics such as computers. These adapters have low efficiency (50%-75%). Doesn't it make sense to provide a low voltage dc bus for these devices, with a high efficiency adapter, along with the standard ac bus for motor and heating loads? I understand this is being looked at for some server farms and  commercial buildings. When will this technology be available for residential customers?
