Lineman's Rodeo Extends Safety Conference

The International Lineman’s Rodeo will extend the safety conference to a day and a half this year on Oct. 24 and Oct. 25.

The International Lineman’s Rodeo will extend the safety conference to a day and a half this year on Oct. 24 and Oct. 25. The conference returns for a second year, held in conjunction with the Rodeo’s competitive events. The conference features presentations and roundtable discussions on safety and training issues in the industry.

The conference is free to all participants and participating companies in the International Lineman's Rodeo, and a $200 registration fee applies to non-participants.

More than 3000 people from across the United States and around the world attend and compete in the International Lineman's Rodeo each year. Session topics will include personal safety during blackouts; successes and failures; fall protection; and a bucket truck demonstration.

Carl Potter, president of Potter & Associates will present a motivational message “filled with wit, wisdom and humor.” He will talk about how accidents affect not only you but those around you, as well as taking personal responsibility for your own and other’s safety.

Stefan Salmonson, president of PROtective Services Inc. will cover identifying and reducing security risks, reactions during duress, evidence gathering/documentation, effective signage, interagency reporting, the ABCs of security, three layers of security, robbery survival, response to angry, shouting and armed co-workers/clients, explosives recognition, security equipment (cameras), Emergency Response Procedures (ERP) and policy/protocols.
