Power companies have such a storied past. Many started with varied products in addition to electricity including ice, water gas, appliances, and of course, street lighting. Although a lot of modern electric utilities have dropped “and Light” from their name, many still provide this historically indispensable service to their communities and realize a meaningful percentage of their revenue in the process.
