Lineman's Rodeo Teams: Competition and Camaraderie

Oct. 20, 2022
To get to the top, the journeymen linemen teams focused on strong teamwork and solid communication.

Linemen often work in crews out in the field to maintain the grid and restore power following storms. When they make it to the international stage at the Lineman's Rodeo, they must also work in three-member teams to finish the events as fast as possible with the least amount of point deductions.

A total of 242 journeyman lineman teams competed at the 2022 Lineman's Rodeo, close to the record of 248 teams at the 2019 competition. The teams participated in the pole climb, hurt man rescue and two mystery events.

Twenty-six journeyman teams had a perfect score of 400 points with zero deductions. One team, however, had the fastest time of 19:14:03--the IBEW Local 1245 team of Josh Klikna, Dustin Krieger and Steve Johnson.

This photo gallery celebrates the teams at the 2022 International Lineman's Rodeo. Congratulations to all of the competitors and award winners, and we look forward to seeing you next year in Kansas City for the 2023 Rodeo Week.
