Two Line Workers in Stable Condition After Being Injured Working On a Utility Pole
Two Duquesne Light Company (DLC) lineworkers were injured Wednesday while performing work on a utility pole and rushed to the hospital, the company says.
The men were working along Brandywine Drive in McCandless Township, near Pittsburgh, Pa. when the incident occurred. Both employees were transported to local hospitals. DLC said both workers remain in area hospitals and their conditions are being monitored, but no additional information was available at this time. An investigation into the cause is underway, DLC said.
Media reports indicate a woman in the neighborhood who is a nurse performed CPR on one of the linemen before ambulances arrived to transport the workers, and other neighbors offered their support.
A spokesperson at DLC said Thursday afternoon that both line workers were still in the hospital in stable condition.
"We are continuing to monitor their progress and are hopeful for their quick recovery," DLC said in a statement. "We are also working closely with our broader workforce to ensure they have proper resources and support at this time. An investigation into the cause of the incident is ongoing."
