When it comes to line work, the right tools matter. Five companies went above and beyond to create tools that work well and keep linemen safe. These tools were recognized as the category winners in the 2021 Top Tool of the Trade competition presented by T&D World and Utility Products.
The Top Tools of the Trade Awards program is in its fifth year and is designed to honor excellence in the electric utility industry. Companies enter their new products for evaluation by esteemed judges, and that process results in a winner for each category.
Congratulations to the category winners for 2021:

- Workwear: Lakeland
- Truck Equipment: MADI Innovative Lineman Tools
- Climbing Gear: Buckingham Manufacturing, Inc.
- Safety: Twistarp
Linemen at the Expo voted online for the top tool as well as the larger Lineman Life readership community at T&D World. After tallying the votes, the top award went to: MADI Innovative Lineman Tools for their Pole Cradle and Outrigger Pad, which is said to be multifunctional and great for training.
