Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative Selects New Advanced Distribution Management System

Open Systems International, Inc. has been selected by Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative, Inc. to supply an advanced new Distribution Management System for its members, based on OSI’s state-of-the-art monarch (Multi-platform Open Network ARCHitecture) platform.

This distribution automation effort is part of Bluebonnet’s multi-year enterprise program, “Sustainable Grid” that will empower the coop to more efficiently and effectively respond to and manage outages and improve customer service.

Bluebonnet’s new OSI DMS system is set to include the advanced functionality presented by OSI’s next-generation, .NET based Graphical User Interface (GUI); Advanced Alarm Management System; Advanced SCADA Functionality and DMS functionality such as Graphical Information Systems Interface; Volt/VAR Control; Fault Location, Isolation and Service Restoration; Three Phase Power Flow; and Switching Order Management software products, with standard system interfaces via DNP, SNMP, ODBC and MultiSpeak®.

Founded in 1939, Bluebonnet is one of Texas’ oldest and most respected electric cooperatives. Bluebonnet serves more than 82,000 meters and maintains 11,000 miles of distribution line in 14 Central Texas counties. Bluebonnet’s service area stretches from Travis County to Washington County and from Milam County down to Gonzales County.
