Shinobu Nakata is the director of the National Institute of Technology and Evaluation (NITE) in Japan. He joined NITE in 2011, and has been involved in incident investigation of electrical consumer products, safety evaluation of BESSs in the National Laboratory for Advanced Energy Storage Technologies (NLAB), and international standard development for BESS safety. He contributed to the development of IEC 62933-5-2 Ed 1: 2020 “Safety requirements for grid-integrated EES systems - Electrochemical-based systems.”
