A.J. Smith is regional forester for DTE Energy in Detroit, Michigan. He has led the utility vegetation management’s remote-sensing program since 2018. Smith earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in forestry from Michigan Technological University in 2013 and has been an International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist since 2015.
