Storm Soldiers Film to Be Shown at Lineman's Rodeo; Accepted at Film Festivals

Sept. 5, 2013
Hubbell Power Systems, Inc.'s documentary about the life and work of journeyman linemen, has been accepted at two film festivals.

Hubbell Power Systems, Inc.'s documentary about the life and work of journeyman linemen, will be shown at a special screening at the 2013 International Lineman’s Rodeo on Friday, Oct. 18. All Lineman's Rodeo attendees and families are invited to this free event sponsored by Hubbell Power Systems, T&D World magazine, and the International Lineman’s Rodeo Association. The screening will be at the Overland Park Convention Center, Overland Park, Kansas, at 3:30 p.m. CST.

The film has also been accepted at two film festivals. HPS partnered with Tytan Creates in 2011 to film and produce the movie that tells a heroic, true story of linemen with a focus on safety, family and brotherhood. The project commenced in the fall of 2011 during Hurricane Irene restoration efforts, wrapped in March 2013, and included hundreds of interviews.

Now, the documentary has been accepted at DOCUTAH in St. George, Utah. The documentary will screen today at 5:20 p.m. Hubbell also received notice last month that the film had been accepted at the Louisville Film Festival, Kentucky, Oct 10-13.

“The response from the lineman community has been overwhelming. Everyone we’ve contacted has been gracious enough to support the project. Although the film contains over 90% new and original footage shot by the TYTAN Creates crew, the film also includes contributions, including photos and film footage of lineman doing their jobs and heart-wrenching stories of love and loss. We are proud to raise awareness about the importance of the work they do and grateful for the opportunity to bring their collective story to a national audience,” said Crystal Mistretta, Brand and Advertising Manager for HPS, and Storm Soldiers Executive Producer.

Hubbell will continually update its website,, with film festival showings, Companies can also sponsor private screenings, with their company name appearing as the host on the theater marquee (where available) as well as prestige invitations. Companies can select whom to invite to screenings.

Sponsorship money covers the cost to host the screenings. Any monies left over will be donated to charity: The National Association for Journeyman Linemen, National Sisterhood United for Journeyman Lineman, and the International Lineman’s Museum. Any proceeds will be divided equally among the three charities.

"Our goal is to share the movie with our industry partners and provide an opportunity for you to share it with those important to you," Mistretta said.

In order to bring the film to the widest possible audience, Hubbell has to keep it in limited distribution through private screenings and film festivals but is pursuing distribution through major production outlets such as Home Box Office.
