Summary

The rapid advancement of technology in recent years has paved the way for innovative approaches to inspecting and managing transmission and distribution assets in the utilities industry. By integrating cutting-edge technologies such as drones, high-resolution imaging, artificial intelligence and the utilization of inspection workflow processes, utilities can enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and safety of inspecting critical infrastructure.

In this webchat, we’ll explore the key pillars of a UAS program and the benefits of cost-effective remote data collection and management, along with coordination of the data, which contributes to real-time analytics and predictive maintenance strategies. Ultimately, this approach accelerates speed-to-decision about critical infrastructure and empowers utilities to significantly scale remote aerial inspection programs to identify potential risks, optimize asset performance, and ensure reliable electricity transmission and distribution networks.

We will also explore the end-to-end data flows coming from adjacent systems and processes including the EAM, workforce management solution (WFM) and GIS systems, and how a UAS program is accretive to the investment in these existing systems. By understanding the data flows to/from each of these systems, you’ll be able to better understand how a UAS program addresses business challenges such as asset management and maintenance, vegetation management, storm response, wildfire mitigation, and crew and community safety.
