CIBER, Inc. has won a $5 million contract extension to provide IT outsourcing services to Nashville Electric Service (NES), one of the 11 largest public utilities in the United States, which delivers energy to approximately 350,000 customers in middle Tennessee. The multi-million dollar win is an extension of CIBER's three-year IT outsourcing engagement with NES, which CIBER began in October 2004. The total value of the contract to date - including the newly won extension - is $18 million.

"We have worked with CIBER since October 2004, and have been very pleased with CIBER's partnership approach and strong delivery capabilities," said Vic Hatridge, chief information officer at NES. "CIBER provides reliable, efficient, cost-effective information technology services to NES. This allows us to focus on our core mission of providing reliable power to our customers, without worrying about internal IT issues."

CIBER and partner Zycron Computer Services, Inc. are providing NES with a full range of IT services, including network infrastructure support, database administration, security administration, help desk services, and application development and management. CIBER is also integrating and supporting NES's enterprise resource planning (ERP) applications, which include industry-specific applications, and Oracle PeopleSoft human resources applications.

"We have a long history of providing outsourcing services to clients in the energy and utilities sector, and we're honored to include Nashville Electric Service among our clients," said John Wood, area director of CIBER's Nashville office. "We're proud to say that many investor-owned, publicly owned, and consumer-owned utilities have turned to CIBER to lead their IT initiatives, such as Duke Energy, Kansas City Board of Public Utilities, Sacramento Municipal Utility District, and Bonneville Power Administration."

Earlier this year, the Brown-Wilson Group named CIBER the top IT outsourcing provider for the utilities industry, and ranked CIBER among the top 10 global IT outsourcing vendors for clients in all industries. CIBER was also listed among the top 50 best managed global outsourcing vendors, according to the recent Brown-Wilson Group surveys.
