Nov. 8, 2021
Michels Canada will now deliver comprehensive overhead and underground construction services for electric utility services.

Michels Canada has expanded its commitment to supporting Canada’s prosperous future by adding electrical power construction services to its energy and infrastructure offerings.

Michels Canada’s decisions and actions are based on the company’s core values, starting with an absolute commitment to safety. That commitment is demonstrated by Michels Canada being named the Gold Winner of the WSIB Award for Canada’s Best Health and Safety Culture in the 2021 Canada’s Safest Employers Awards.

Michels Canada has established regional bases and teams at its facilities in the Vancouver, Edmonton and Toronto areas to meet the requirements and conditions of Canada’s regions. Specifically, Michels Canada delivers comprehensive overhead and underground construction services for electric utility services. Teams build transmission and distribution power lines, electrical substations, and communication systems as well as perform live line and emergency storm response. Related services, such as foundations for structures and substations, are also available.

“This expansion is an organic progression of our goal of providing Canada with the safest, most-reliable energy and infrastructure construction services,” said Dean Cowling, president, Michels Canada. “We approach each project with our unwavering commitment to safety, innovation and quality, regardless of whether we have worked with a customer many times, or this is our first time working together. Our responsibility extends beyond our project sites to the communities and people who trust us to perform our critical services.”

As a member of the Michels Family of Companies, Michels Canada has access to the expertise, technical skills, specialized equipment, and situational solutions developed by one of the North America’s largest energy and infrastructure contractors.

Among current or recently completed projects are:

  • A 10.5 km of a 6.3-metre diameter tunnel in Toronto
  • Canada’s longest horizontal directional drill installation in Burlington, ON (3,540 metres)
    • 90 km of 36-inch pipeline in the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley of British Columbia
