Cooper Power Systems has introduced the Form 4D, the first in a platform of fully integrated recloser controls. The Form 4D control is the culmination of more than 70 customer interviews followed by extensive field trials with more than 30 customers around the world. The customer feedback received by the company helped expand the knowledge and experience gained from listening and responding to customer needs for more than a half century.

“The Form 4D control is the ideal, economical choice for smart grid retrofits or basic distribution applications,” said Tom Pitstick, vice president and general manager of the Energy Automation Solutions business unit at Cooper Power Systems. “In addition, our extensive customer research and feedback resulted in both a lineman-inspired control front panel to ensure ease-of-use when working at the control, and a software platform that can support future smart grid challenges.”

A true plug-in control for Cooper Power Systems reclosers, the Form 4D control is the simple solution for new reclosers and a replacement for legacy controls on currently installed reclosers. Plug-and-play common parts incorporated into the Form 4D control facilitate easy installation, service, and replacement. These design elements were specifically incorporated to ensure future upgradeability as application needs change. The Form 4D control easily integrates with multiple vendor products. In addition, the diverse range of communication protocols facilitate integration into legacy and emerging networks.
