Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation has released CurrentWatch, a new family of current sensors and switches used to monitor current flowing in electrically powered equipment.

Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation has released CurrentWatch, a family of current sensors and switches used to monitor current flowing in electrically powered equipment. The CurrentWatch family is accurate, reliable and easy to install in new and retrofit applications.

“When it comes to reliability improvements, predictive diagnostics, information and metering, Eaton’s CurrentWatch products are a great choice,” says Jeff Otterstein, product manager, Intelligent Power Sensing. “With the extensive breadth of this line—more than 120 different styles—and many models with field-adjustable sensing ranges and a variety of industry-standard outputs, we have a CurrentWatch solution for a wide range of applications.”

With models measuring up to 2000 amps AC and 300 amps DC, CurrentWatch products are ideal for applications requiring monitoring, protection, status or alarming. Typical applications for CurrentWatch include detecting pump jams, suction loss, motor resistance breakdown, belt loss or slippage, and mechanical failure.

Most CurrentWatch models are self-powered, requiring no external power supply. Instead, the sensors create their own energy from the current being monitored, conditioning the signal to provide an analog output.

Key features of the CurrentWatch product line:

• AC and DC current sensing

• Solid-core or split-core housings

• Self-powered, 24 VAC/DC or 120 VAC power

• Analog or discrete outputs for interfacing with control equipment

• Backed with a five-year warranty
