ABB has announced the kickoff of two major renewable substation EPC projects in the US involving wind and solar power. The wind farm will receive the EPC supply of a collector substation, utilizing its 38-kV MV GIS switchgear technology in the design. This new collector substation will provide the customer with a Generator Step Up transformer complete with high voltage breakers, switches, instrument transformers, capacitor banks and the switchgear featured in a Power Distribution Center (PDC). ABB’s 34.5-kV GIS technology represents a new and exciting solution for the US wind market, embedding ABB in the forefront of this technology.
For a recent utility solar PV power plant located, ABB will provide a turnkey 34.5/230 -kV solar collector substation featuring a new generator step up transformer and a four collector feeder design with interconnection into an adjacent utility switchyard. This project positions ABB as a key global supplier for EPC interconnection substations and power products for the solar marketplace.
