WECC Region Utility to Replace Large-Scale Energy Management System

Open Systems International, Inc. has been selected by a major American utility company located in the WECC region to provide a large-scale new multi-site SCADA, Energy Management and Generation Management (SCADA/EMS/GMS) system.

Open Systems International, Inc. (OSI) has been selected by a major American utility company located in the WECC region to provide a large-scale new multi-site SCADA, Energy Management and Generation Management (SCADA/EMS/GMS) system. This utility company has requested to remain anonymous.

This company is a leading utility, serving nearly 2 million customers across multiple states with nearly 15,000 miles of transmission lines and more than 60,000 miles of distribution lines. The objective of this project is to replace a legacy SCADA/EMS system with a state-of-the-art new system based on OSI’s monarch platform, capable of maintaining and improving the company’s excellent operational performance. The new technology provided by OSI will enhance overall system performance, availability and security, while providing advanced transmission applications for improved operational performance.

The new multi-site OSI platform includes the advanced functionality presented by OSI’s next-generation, .NET based Graphical User Interface; Advanced SCADA Functionality; Transmission Security Analysis and Optimization; Generation Management; and Dynamic Voltage Stability Analysis software. The system will replace a legacy ABB RANGER SCADA/EMS system.
