Siemens Energy, Inc. and BPL Global are expanding their relationship in North America to provide a comprehensive smart grid portfolio. Siemens is currently an investor in BPLG and a co-marketer of its transformer monitors, and now Siemens will team with BPLG to integrate and resell BPLG load management and distributed energy resource management solutions. Siemens and BPLG will integrate BPLG Smart Grid solutions with Siemens’ distribution automation applications, including its distribution management system (DMS), SCADA and substation automation solutions.

“Expanding our strategic relationship with Siemens as an investor and partner provides a comprehensive Smart Grid solution for electric utilities,” said Keith Schaefer, CEO of BPL Global. “This is essential to meet the step-change in market demand catalyzed by ARRA funding.”

BPLG develops and deploys transformational Smart Grid solutions to modernize electric grids worldwide addressing applications across the grid from the substation to customer premises. BPLG’s demand management solution integrates software, hardware and services that enable the utility to directly manage non-critical load for operational and market monetization needs. The solution provides electric utilities with direct control of dispatchable load with predictable and verifiable management of individual loads. BPLG is positioned as a first mover in integrating management of distributed energy resources, including renewable generation, distributed generation, energy storage and load into a single, controllable system. Collaborative management of these diverse assets allows electric utilities to optimize reliability, efficiency, economic and environmental goals.

Siemens has smart grid solutions along the entire energy conversion chain from planning and consulting to the products and services required to enable the grid to operate intelligently. And Siemens also incorporates solutions for commercial and industrial applications as well as smart homes, including building automation, IT systems integration, advanced lighting technology and energy efficient appliances, for a comprehensive smart grid solution.
