Manitowoc Public Utilities, Wisconsin, has selected Advanced Utility Systems’ CIS Infinity to replace its legacy customer information and utility billing solution.

Located on the western shore of Lake Michigan, MPU is a municipality-owned electric and water utility serving approximately 17,500 customers in the city of Manitowoc, Wisconsin. MPU is managed by the Manitowoc Public Utilities Commission and operates under service rules and rates that are established by the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSCW).

In 2009, MPU identified the need to replace its legacy Customer Information System (CIS) with a modern and robust CIS application that would enhance customer service. MPU required a system that could be extended to their customers to enable them to conduct their utilities business on a 24 x 7 basis. MPU’s requirements would need to be facilitated by offering customers electronic billing and self-service capabilities along with other advanced functions and features.
The selection for a new CIS application began with a Request for Proposal. After detailed demonstrations from qualified vendors and thorough reference checks, MPU selected Advanced Utility Systems and CIS Infinity.

Advanced was on-site in February to kick off the project and go-live is set for later this year.
