GridPoint, Inc.'s load management solution is being used by Hoosier Energy to reduce peak demand, make more efficient use of power supply resources and better control energy costs for its member electric distribution cooperatives. GridPoint’s centralized solution enables Hoosier Energy to aggregate and manage commercial and residential load served by its cooperatives, and provides individual co-ops the ability to execute targeted demand response events.

GridPoint’s flexible solution provides Hoosier Energy and its co-ops with a single system to communicate with and control multiple AMI systems and devices, from high-capacity water heaters to residential thermostats. It enables a variety of load shifting and shaping scenarios -- including summer, winter and emergency strategies -- via scheduled, day-ahead events or real-time response. Additionally, electric co-ops not using AMI technology can benefit from the GridPoint solution with its ability to communicate with load management devices through alternate communications paths.

The company is working with utilities nationwide including Baltimore Gas and Electric Company, Kansas City Power & Light, Sacramento Municipal Utility District, and Xcel Energy.
