Tenaska Power Services Co. (TPS) has implemented PowerOptix, from Hartigen Solutions LLC, to manage transactions in the Midwest Independent System Operator market.

PowerOptix is built on Hartigen's LS-Evolution rapid application development platform that provides complete separation of core architectural components and business functionality. As a result, new functionality can be delivered immediately, without the traditional months or years of design iterations that are typical with other solutions.

TPS specializes in physical power marketing and electric asset management for utilities and non-utility generators.

“We selected PowerOptix to replace one of the leading third-party solutions because it offers a lower cost of ownership, a cleaner and more intuitive user interface, a newer technology stack and, probably most importantly, its open architecture. The Service-Oriented Architecture allows us to easily mold the platform into our current customer-centric processes,” said Michael Bohan, TPS senior director of strategic technology.

TPS plans to roll out PowerOptix to manage transactions in other markets starting January 2013. PowerOptix is deployed on a single platform with a centralized data model/mart for all ISOs/RTOs. The application can be delivered on premises or as a secure Software as a Service.
