Trilliant has been selected by NEW Netz GmbH, one of Germany's leading utilities serving about 500,000 customers in the Lower Rhine region, to provide smart grid and smart metering communications solutions for the utility's smart grid pilot project.
Germany, in common with other EU countries, faces many challenges in both meeting EU goals whilst maintaining overall reliability of the grid and future energy security through the use of renewables. NEW is one of the German utilities taking initiatives in this direction. To test how it will do this, NEW is undertaking a smart grid pilot project which will show how the application of smart grid technologies can help deliver energy efficiency, reliability and smart energy benefits to customers. Over time, NEW's grid will evolve to take advantage of smart grid technologies and benefits, allowing NEW to integrate more renewable energy sources and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
In this pilot project, Trilliant will be providing its Smart Communications Platform. The platform offers utilities the highest-performing solutions in the industry with the widest range of options and flexibility to solve any smart grid business needs, and has the flexibility to be tailored to the utility's particular goals, regulatory model, and service territory.
The Trilliant Smart Communications Platform provides the reliability, high bandwidth and low latency to enable effective non-technical losses prevention, as well as other future Smart Grid and Smart City initiatives.
