Reliable Power Key to Locating 1.65-Million-Square-Foot Facility in Toledo Area

Toledo Edison, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp., has finished construction of a new $1.2 million, 138-kV transmission line to service Home Depot's new distribution warehouse in Troy Township in Wood County, Ohio. The new 1.65-million-square-foot facility will be used primarily for online order fulfillment.

"The new transmission line is a great example of how Toledo Edison's infrastructure projects and economic development efforts support growth in the region," said Linda Moss, regional president of Toledo Edison. "The warehouse project created jobs during construction and is expected to bring about 250 permanent jobs to the area.”

The 0.4-mile line, which connects an existing 138-kV transmission line with a new customer substation at the facility via 11 new transmission towers, was completed in August, and the line has been energized. Home Depot's new facility is expected to go into operation next spring.
